Working in Production Management on the Fit Out of new boats, your role will be that of a facilitator and supervisor. Once the boat builders have finished the structural work on the vessel, your team of tradespeople will fit the boat out with everything else it needs.

You will oversee the installation of marine electrical and electronic systems, the addition of cabin equipment and fittings and coordinate welding, thermal cutting and heating procedures.

You will establish relations with customers, coordinate the team’s work schedule and ensure workplace occupational health and safety procedures are followed. You will also assign workplace tools and equipment and ensure good workplace communication.

Once you have acquired skills in a particular area of Fit Out, it is an excellent career step to become the Assembly Manager. The paths to reach this job are varied, but hard work and a responsible attitude are definitely keys to higher attainment.
